Distance programs to begin Summer & Fall 2016 via UNI Continuing and Distance Education

The University of Northern Iowa has upcoming application deadlines for degree programs beginning summer and fall 2016. Most programs are offered entirely at a distance via a variety of delivery methods, including interactive video technologies and online via eLearning. Instructional Technology MA​ and School Library Studies MA programs will begin Summer 2016. A School Library Studies MA and Educational Leadership-Principalship MAE/ASC cohort will begin Fall 2016.

The Instructional Technology program prepares professionals to be leaders in Instructional Technology in the classroom, district and beyond. Students focus on integrating technology into the classroom and graduates focus on bringing progressive change to Iowa and beyond. Applications for the Instructional Technology MA program are due April 15, 2016. More information can be found at distance.uni.edu/itech.

A cohort for the School Library Studies MA program will begin ​Summer 2016, as well as Fall 2016. The SLS program offers a master’s degree for those who wish to become teacher librarians and qualify for the K-12 teacher librarian endorsement in Iowa. This program prepares students to become teacher librarians who use their acquired knowledge of children and young people, books and information technologies, curriculum and the power of collaboration to enhance the learning experiences of students in their schools. Applications are due April 1, 2016 for acceptance into the summer cohort and June 1, 2016 for acceptance into the fall cohort. More information can be found at distance.uni.edu/sls.

The application deadline for the Educational Leadership- Principalship MAE/ASC program is April 15, 2016. This program is unique in that it minimizes student class time and maximizes on-site skill development while working with a mentor. Students entering this program are required to devote a considerable amount of time in an internship experience where work products and skills are developed.
