Course #4604, Section #7659, Waverly Summer 13.
Instructor: Kari Staack.
Start Date: 7/24/13.
Description: This blended face to face and online course is designed to support teachers, administrators, and schools in understanding bullying from the perspective of the bully, the bullied, and the bystander (witness). As educational pedagogy transitions from teacher-centered to student-directed, the classroom, school, and school community must remain safe places for students. This opportunity allows participants to reflect on current practices and integrate new strategies to more effectively support students and their families. Areas of focus will be on the bully, the bullied, the bystander, cyber-bullying, indicators of bullying (and safety issues), and information specific to elementary, middle, and high school students.
Course Note: This course will meet face to face and through online discussions using google groups, while finishing the course with demonstration of implementation. Please contact instructor for questions about meeting dates at staackk@gmail.com.
